In the summer of 2027, hundreds of thousands of young Catholics from every corner of the globe will converge on the vibrant city of Seoul, South Korea, for what is widely and rightfully regarded as the largest and most dynamic gathering of the Catholic Church on earth: World Youth Day. This particular iteration of the pilgrimage carries a profound and truly unique historical significance, as it will be presided over, for the very first time, by an American pope, His Holiness Pope Leo XIV.
This momentous occasion represents a monumental watershed event for the global Church, effectively signaling a vibrant new chapter in our collective mission of evangelization and outreach. As Pope Leo XIV prepares to lead this historic gathering, the spiritual energy surrounding the event is truly palpable, drawing together an incredible array of diverse cultures, languages, and personal stories under the singular, unifying banner of our Catholic faith. For our own St. Anthony of Padua Young Adults (SAYA) group, being physically present in Seoul is not merely about attendance or sightseeing; it is a sacred invitation to witness history in the making, participate deeply in the universal call to holiness, and ultimately return to our home parish community with a profoundly renewed, emboldened, and courageous spirit to live out the joy of the Gospel in our daily lives, our workplaces, and our relationships.
